One of Provo High’s all-time greatest runners has signed a letter of intent to attend Brigham Young University. Kate Hunter plans on running both cross country and track for the Cougars starting in the fall of 2017. Kate’s career as a Bulldog up to this point has placed her among the great tradition of runners who have come from Provo High School. More importantly, Kate is a straight A student who contributes to the positive culture at Provo High School.
To say that Kate’s running accomplishments are impressive would be an understatement. Kate is a two time state champion in cross country. Her running in national meets is equally impressive. Kate placed 2nd at the Footlocker West Region Meet while facing stiff competition from runners from across the Western United States. At Nationals, Kate finished in 31st place as an underclassman. Additionally to her success in cross country events, Kate’s efforts in track have won her state championships in several individual events. She is a state champion in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m. She is looking forward to competing in track during her senior season here at Provo.
For cross country, Kate was named to the Academic All-State list by the UHSAA for the success she has achieved in the classroom as a student athlete. Kate’s current plans are to pursue a bachelor’s degree in athletic training while she studies at BYU. Kate is a member of the National Honor Society here at Provo High School. Additionally, Kate is a talented piano player.
We are proud to claim Kate as a Bulldog and we wish her the best as she competes in the upcoming national cross country meets.
