Medley finish

This past weekend Provo High School was represented by the following girls, Kate Hunter, Meghan Hunter, Ally Gomm, Sadie McGinn, Brittany Eatough, Natalie Maroney, Katy Herrin and Emily Schofield. They all ran well.

It started out with Kate Hunter winning the 1600 Friday morning. Her sister Meghan followed that up by qualifying for finals in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash. Ally Gomm qualified for the finals in the 300 meter hurdle finals. We rested Meghan for trials in the medley and had Brittany Eatough help Kate, Sadie and Ally qualify for finals in that event. Natalie, Katy and Emily all ran well in the 4×100 and 4×400, but they were not able to qualify for finals.
Saturday Kate took second in the 3200 meter, she ran an 11:07 in the rain. Meghan had an amazing day taking 5th in the 100 meter dash and 3rd in the 400 meter dash. Meghan’s time in the 400 ranks her 2nd all time at Provo High. Meghan finished her day by taking 5th in the 200. Ally Gomm had an amazing race in the 300 hurdles taking 4th place with a time of 45.09. She broke the school record and is now ranked in the top 15 freshman in the country in the 300 hundred hurdles.
The hardest thing on Saturday was our girls medley. We ran the team of Sadie McGinn, Meghan Hunter, Ally Gomm and Kate Hunter. We broke the school record with this team 2 weeks prior to this meet. Our goal was to win the race and try to break the state record. We ended up winning the race and breaking the state record by 2 seconds, but we were disqualified. An official stated that Sadie gave Meghan the baton out of the exchange zone. We have photo evidence that did not happen. They all ran amazing.  We finished 9th as a team with only 3 girls scoring points. Every other team in the top 10 had 4 times as many girls scoring points for them.
